The mission of Protecting Paradise is to provide leadership, education and advocacy to assist private and public landowners in promoting the protection, the preservation, the enhancement, and the sustainable use and enjoyment of Paradise Valley, Montana by of its residents and by its visitors.
WHO WE ARE
Neighbors, helping one another to care for the place we call home. We are farmers and ranchers, business owners, teachers, and visitors. We are families who have lived here for a hundred years and people who have just moved here in search of the last, best place. We care about private property rights, yet we understand that the exercise of those rights can at times negatively impact other people’s rights. We care about our children and their children to come. We know that we are each here for our own reasons, yet, we also know that we have much more in common than what separates us.
WHAT WE DO
We come together to respond to specific threats to our community, to our environment, and to our quality of life. We are a nonprofit organization, yet we have no employees, spend no money on infrastructure, and have no fancy offices. When we believe an issue becomes a significant risk, we gather together to educate ourselves, and develop a plan of action to alert others and counter the threat. We raise money, volunteer, and offer help to other individuals and organizations. The goal is simple: mitigate or eliminate the threat and Protect Paradise.
WHAT ISSUES ARE WE WORKING ON NOW
We prevailed in our lawsuit against the Adkins Tire Dump in 2013 and in May 2019 DEQ gave public notice that DEQ/Adkins are proceeding with the Adkins Submittal for a Class III Monofill [tire dump]. We believe this tire dump is a major risk to Paradise Valley from environmental, health, safety and general welfare/aesthetics standpoints. It is the wrong project in the wrong place.
CAN I BE A PART OF PROTECTING PARADISE
If you love this area and if you believe that even with differing viewpoints there are some things worth protecting and fighting for together, then you will be welcome at our table.
